My most memorable moment was when (outdoor nursery orangutan) Kolapis needed medical attention after another orangutan attacked him. He had been seriously injured and was being seen to by the doctors and he needed someone to keep him calm and to show him that everything was going to be ok. Although it was also quite traumatic I felt we had a strong bond and he showed this by holding my hand, and he wouldn't let go.
I truly felt he knew I was there for him and I stayed with him the entire time until it was ok for him to get comfortable on his own and rest.
