YOUR JOURNEY THROUGH SOUTH AMERICA

BUENOS AIRES: 2 WEEKS
You will fly first into Argentina’s cosmopolitan capital city, Buenos Aires, where you will be met at the airport by our friendly, lively organisers and settled in to your accommodation.

"I really loved time here in Buenos Aires. Met so many great people.
I'm going back later this year to find work. I love Buenos Aires!"
Matthew Rocket

The seductive and bustling capital of Buenos Aires is a city rich in cultural heritage, renowned for its cosmopolitan, chic attitude. Buenos Aires hosts a surprisingly European feel, reminiscent of Paris with its chic tree-lined avenues and wonderful plazas which have a beguiling, faded elegance. Certainly one of Latin America's most popular cities, there is plenty to keep you entertained - day and night…

Volunteer Projects Available in Buenos Aires:

  • Teach English

Optional Activities you can do while on your Project:
If you would like to take any of our 'optional activities' as main projects, that's fine! Just speak to your Project Co-ordinator.

  • Tango Courses:
That most flamboyant and exciting of Latin American rhythms. Includes a weekly Milonga (Tango party) – great fun!

  • Salsa Courses:
Salsa music is a synthesis of European and African musical influences that was born in Cuba. You’ll learn from a Cuban teacher who will tailor lessons to suit your level, even totally beginners.

  • Spanish Language Courses:
You can take a few hours of private lessons a week at the same time as doing your project. You'll be amazed at how much it will add to your enjoyment during your stay.

  • Photography Courses:
6 hours per week of photography lessons in colourful Buenos Aires where there is a host of subjects you can capture with your camera.

Your Project Staff in Buenos Aires:
Adriana and Melina are sisters who work together to manage our volunteers and projects in Argentina. They are born and bred in Buenos Aires and have been with Travellers since 2002. They speak fluent English and Spanish. They are both very enthusiastic about their work and life in general. They’ll be in charge of making you feel at home in Buenos Aires!

Florianópolis: 2 WEEKS:
With 42 pristine beaches and a thriving SURF, SUN and FUN culture it's no surprise that Veja magazine, a Brazilian publication, named Florianópolis "the best place to live in Brazil." Florianópolis is also among the safest cities in Brazil. There is no better place to begin your Brazilian experience...

Volunteer Projects Available in Florianópolis:

  • Crèche Project
  • Social Care Project
  • Care Work with the Elderly & Orphans
  • Teach English

Optional Extra Activities in Florianópolis:
If you would like to take any of our Optional Activities as main projects, that's fine! Just speak to your Project Co-ordinator.

  • Portuguese Lessons (all levels)

Your Project Staff in Florianópolis:
Our local Brazilian staff are brother & sister team Fabio & Ana Castilha. Ana is based in Floripa and will be your main local contact for this placement. Ana is a kind, thoughtful and smiley lady who has one of the biggest hearts in Brazil… She’ll take care of you throughout your placement and make sure you feel at home in Brazil.

"Ana is wonderful! She was so helpful at the start of my placement when I didn’t know what was going on. Then when I found my feet she was there if I needed her, but she also let me find things out for myself.” Christina Homer

RIO DE JANEIRO: 2 WEEKS
Jammed between miles of coastline and mountains, Rio is one of the world’s most beautiful cities. Famous for carnival, samba and the soft white Copacabana beach, Rio pulses with life. The inhabitants of Rio pursue pleasure like no other people! Fully utilizing their impressive beaches with beautiful people, dancing, music, ice cold beers and the local firewater, cachaça!

"I have never met such happy people in all my life, Cariocas love to sing and dance and this for me was a great thing to experience. I would definitely recommend a trip out to Rio, it really was the best time of my life!" Stephanie White…

“It is not for nothing that the greatest symbol of the city is waiting for you with open arms. Always." Rio Convention Bureau.

The Statue of Christ is undoubtedly the most iconic of Rio's many landmarks. The outstretched arms of Christ seem to embrace the entire city and on a clear day you’ll have 360º views of the city from the mountain, allowing you to appreciate Rio in all its glory; from the sprawling inner city areas to the forested mountains to the tropical blue sea littered with a hundred shades of tanned flesh. During the day, Rios cafés and beaches are the place to be, thriving as the sun shines. At night, the clubs, restaurants and dance halls dominate. This is a world designed for spontaneity and mingling.

Volunteer Projects Available in Rio

  • Crèche Project
  • Coach Sports
  • Teach Dance
  • Teach English

If you’re in Rio during Carnaval preparation (between September and the end of January), you can assist with carnival preparations at a Samba school, such as costume making and dance choreography.

  • Photography Lessons: Capture the flavour of beautiful Rio with your lens on one of our professional courses ... Basic, Intermediate and Advanced Courses available.

Things to do in Rio:
(…oh so much..) day trips to Rio’s tourist attractions – there are loads!! Swim, sunbathe and surf at the glorious beaches, hike through the lush Tijuca forest, play volleyball, futeball or soccer and visit the traditional São Cristóvão cultural market for some culinary and local treats!

Your Project Staff in Rio de Janeiro:
Our local Brazilian staff are brother & sister team Fabio & Ana Castilha. Fabio is based in Rio and will be your main local contact for this placement. Fabio is a kind, happy and enthusiastic guy with lots of charisma and even more energy! He’s a Capoeira nut and will most likely try to get you involved in the sport at some point during your stay. He’s not happy unless he’s busy and has endless time to spend with volunteers, making it his mission to make them feel at home in his country. Fabio was raised in Foz do Iguaçu, but moved to Rio to set up the Travellers projects here a few years ago.

Fabio you are fabulous ... Thanks Rio, thanks Travellers for arranging all this, but mostly thanks to the children and the people who have made us so welcome here .... It says a lot that I am fighting back the tears as I say cheerio for now, folks, love you all, please stay safe” – A tearful final message from Vera Tyler, Rio volunteer

TRAVEL and SUPPORT & BACKUP

You have the option to arrange your own flights or we can assist you with your flight arrangements. If you would like us to do this for you, we will liaise with you regarding available flights and dates to suit you. All arrangements for your flight bookings/payments will be fulfilled by Murray Rogers Travel Limited, ATOL No. 6856. Where possible, we arrange for two or more people to travel on the same flight and we will let you have the names and telephone numbers of other volunteers on your flight, so that you can chat to each other or even meet up before leaving for your placement.

You'll fly into Buenos Aires where you'll be met by a member of Travellers Argentina staff. From the airport you'll be taken to your accommodation in Buenos Aires and settled in.

Transport between locations is by comfortable, air conditioned bus and you will be met by local staff on arrival in each new location. On your departure, you will be taken to the airport in Rio de Janeiro and waved off as you move on with all your wonderful memories and experiences!

VISAS: Visa’s are not required for a stay of 90 days if you are a British Passport holder. If you're from another country, we'll liase with you about your visa requirements, if any, and make the Visa process very easy.

Where possible, all flights we arrange for you have changeable return tickets because many of our volunteers choose to extend their stay once they are in their destination country. Changeable return tickets enable you to do so, within the limits of your visa and the level of your air ticket, of course. If you choose to book your own flights, you should endeavour to get a changeable ticket.

We can also arrange your flight dates to give you additional time at the end of your project for travelling around and sightseeing - South America is a fascinating and wondrous continent!
