community development

Community develpment in Rajastan is a rewarding and worthwhile project. In fact this project is outstanding. Combine teaching to poor rural communities with assisting them to create education, health and social infrastructures.

The villages we work in are extremely poor, with minimal if any levels of education. Some of the community development work you'll assist in may be to assist in the construction of huts that can be used as school rooms. These communities need as much help as they can get. Out here in the wilderness the way of life is so simplistic, you cannot comprehend the poverty you will be faced with, but you can be a part of the community development, enriching peoples lives with yout knowledge and skills for years to come.

You'll spend your first few days on the community develpoment programme living with a family in Jaipur, the Pink City. This will give you the opportunity to learn about urban Indian culture and lifestyle and also to do some sightseeing in this very popular city. After that you will travel about tweleve hours in rural Rajastan where you'll live in a reasonably well equipped camp close to the villages that you'll be working in. This camp will give you some privacy and the opportunity to be less culturally bound during your free time.

You'll share a room with other volunteers. There are private, attached bathrooms and running hot water in winter. Water is a scarce commodity, this is a community development are, so you'll be expected to use it frugally. There is also a well equipped kitchen and dining area, an entertainment room with a small library, some games and a music system.

Contact us today for further details about teaching and helping in a community development area.
