you will be allocated to will depend on your own abilities and
capabilities

Mount Kilimanjaro. This country has an amazing variety of things to

excellent entry to your CV, going a long way to help you stand out in
the crowds of job seekers!
Requirements:

experience to do this placement. However, if you do not have any

YOUR physiotherapy PROJECT IN tanzania:
We work with a local
Physiotherapy Clinic and an international Hospital. The Hospital was
established in 1994, and the Clinic was established in July 2004, being
quite a new addition.
So far, in this short
time, the Clinic has managed to serve more than 6,000 patients, helping
local and international patients!
There aren't many
physiotherapy staff at the Clinic or Hospital so, as a volunteer, you
yourself will gain superb experience and the Physio Department will
benefit tremendously ... your assistance means that they can help more
people and also create more trust within the community about the work
itself.
Facilities at the Hospital,
and particularly at the Clinic, are very limited, but they do include:
Action potential
simulation therapy
APS machine
TENs Machine
Intrasound machine (Novasonic)
At both the Hospital and
Clinic you will be working as part of a team. During your placement you will
be shadowing staff as well as getting hands-on experience.
Depending on your experience, you could be placed at either the Hospital or
the Clinic.
(It is always
good to have lots of enthusiasm, an ability to work on your own initiative
and readiness to work in unfamiliar circumstances. If you have any
experience at all in the field of Physiotherapy, please please ensure you
add this to your CV/Resume when you apply.)
Your work is likely to
include activities such as:
Supervising
physiotherapy care
Writing patients case
notes and reports
Collecting patients
statistics
Educating and advising
patients and their carers about how to prevent and/or improve conditions
Liaising with other
healthcare personnel to supply and receive relevant information about
the background and progress of patients
You
will be involved in the day-to-day running of the hospital and clinic,
observing or directly assisting the staff. You can help out in
simple but practical ways, vastly increasing your own knowledge and getting
an understanding of how things work.
You will get a good
general feel of the hospital/clinic by working and/or observing, and you
will be exposed to hands-on work. The type of work you will be allocated to
will depend on your own abilities and capabilities, which is understandable
given that you will be dealing with patient health and safety.
Your work will be varied, but is dependent on
your expertise and your experience. Necessary requirements for a
physiotherapy volunteer are initiative, adaptability and enthusiasm.
You don't need to speak the local language.

The project runs all year round, and is available for
a minimum of 2 months, up to 6 months.
