Professional Internships: Through our partner organisation in Australia, we arrange internships for international students and graduates. These internships are custom-designed in a large range of fields. Learn the fundamentals of working in a specialised field associated with your study.

Gap Year Internships: We are also able to arrange internships in a wide range of sectors for gap year students who have not yet begun their studies at university. This is an ideal (and often unique) opportunity to get real-life, hands-on experience in the field that you've chosen to make your career.

We match enthusiastic and motivated interns with relevant employers so that you can gain experience in your chosen field and exchange knowledge to the benefit of both parties. Each placement is tailored to meet your individual requirements and we provide you with full support and back-up during your stay in Australia. But it's not all work - there is a range of Special Social Activities you can do while you're there to enhance your travel experience!

PROJECT OVERVIEW
With our Professional Internships in Sydney and Melbourne, rarely are two placements ever the same! Each placement is professionally matched and specifically tailored between you and your host organisation. During your application, we will guide you and liaise with you to ascertain exactly what your specifics are and what you hope to achieve on your work experience, to ensure achieve the very best out of your internship.

PROFESSIONAL INTERNSHIPS FOR STUDENTS AT UNIVERSITY OR GRADUATES: The standard internship program is for students and graduates with at least one year of tertiary study in your chosen field. It is expected that students taking the standard internship program have skills and knowledge in their field of study and thus they are assigned more complicated tasks and projects.

INTERNSHIPS FOR GAP YEAR STUDENTS: Gap year internships are designed for high school graduates who have no specialised skill set but would like to gain some entry level work experience in Australia. If you're a gap year student, we can arrange very worthwhile learning internships for you, but your internship will be more “general” as you won't yet have done any post-secondary studies in your chosen field. For example, if you choose a “Marketing” internship, you need to be prepared to undertake some more general roles in the Marketing arena.

We make all arrangements for your internship in close liaison with you. You'll also be in communication with our partners in Australia during the arrangement process, as well as with our Travellers Team here in the UK. This is to ensure that there is the best possible fit between you and the company and that you are as well prepared as possible before you arrive.

You'll also be provided with a social network so that you get the most out of your stay in Australia, thus you'll have access to organised social events and excursions which will give you opportunities to meet other interns. The following is included in your programme:

  • Arrangement of your professional internship

  • Meeting you at the airport.

  • Evaluation at the internship according to your requirements and/or your university requirements.

  • Orientation on your first day (Friday), followed by the weekend to explore before starting your Internship on Monday. This session is compulsory and introduces you to our partner consultancy and the city, and informs you about what to do in the city, banking, transportation, etc, and also about what to expect from your internship.

  • Social activities See Social Activities section.

  • Assistance with permanent good accommodation (see Accommodation Section below)

  • Support for students needing written reports about their experiences for their universities or employers.

  • 24/7 Emergency assistance

  • Constant monitoring procedures to ensure the quality of the internship remains high.

  • Weekly intern newsletters, trips and networking functions. This newsletter updates you on events happening in your city each week, news items, intern interviews and gives details about upcoming intern social functions.

Once your placement begins, your Internship will be monitored to ensure you get the most from your internship. At the end of your first week, both Travellers and our partner organisation will make contact with you via telephone or email to check on your initial progress. During the remainder of the internship, you'll receive three appraisal forms. Your host company supervisor will also receive appraisal forms to complete. The “Internship Confirmation Document” that you'll receive prior to your internship contains all the necessary contact information so you have easy access to staff at all times.

If you would like to discuss any of the types of internships, please call or email us, we're happy to advise and help as much as possible! If we haven't listed your area of internship, please contact us because we will most likely to able to arrange it for you!

WHAT YOU'LL GAIN FROM DOING AN INTERNSHIP:

  • An exciting, never-to-be-forgotten adventure into Australia!

  • You'll learn a lot from experts in your field about how they work in a cultural environment that's different to what you're used to.

  • New skills, more confidence, a greater understanding of a different culture, invaluable personal and professional development.

  • An entry on your CV or résumé that will put you head and shoulders above most others in the job market

  • And best of all ... an unforgettable experience!

Airport Pickup
We will arrange for a driver to be waiting at the airport to collect you and take you to your accommodation.

TRAVEL, VISAS, plus SUPPORT & BACKUP:

You will fly into Sydney or Melbourne, depending on where your Internship is based. You'll be met by a driver who will take you to your accommodation.

You have the option to arrange your own flights or we can assist you with your flight arrangements. If you would like us to do this for you, we will liaise with you regarding available flights and dates to suit you. All arrangements for your flight bookings/payments will be fulfilled by Murray Rogers Travel Limited, ATOL No. 6856. Where possible, we arrange for two or more people to travel on the same flight and we will let you have the names and telephone numbers of other volunteers on your flight, so that you can chat to each other or even meet up before leaving for your placement.

VISAS: We will liaise with you about specific requirements and assist you with the Visa forms and process..

Where possible, all flights we arrange for you have changeable return tickets because many of our volunteers choose to extend their stay once they are in their destination country. Changeable return tickets enable you to do so, within the limits of your visa and the level of your air ticket, of course. If you choose to book your own flights, you should endeavour to get a changeable ticket.

We can also arrange your flight dates to give you additional time at the end of your project for travelling around and sightseeing - this is a fascinating and wondrous country!
