WORTHWHILE AND REWARDING CONSERVATION PROJECTS IN SOUTH AFRICA, full of adventure and fun, too!  We have many conservation projects of all different types available. They are listed below, so please click on the ones that appeal to you to read detailed descriptions of the projects.

Get the total African experience while learning from and living with conservation experts. You can work with most of the famous Big 5 animals (Lions, Elephants, Buffalo, Rhinos and Leopard). We also have marine projects with sharks and whales, and hands-on projects with most species of animals.

WILDLIFE REHABILITATION, AND MORE, IN KZN
 

Up close and personal with Vervet Monkeys and many other wildlife and birds, most of whom have been injured or abandoned.

The best cage is an empty cage! You'll work with over 400 different animals and birds, and lots of monkeys! This excellent project is based in a beautiful Rehabilitation Centre in KwaZulu-Natal. Much of the work usually involves hands-on caring and nursing of injured or baby animals

GREAT WHITE SHARK PROJECT, NEAR CAPE TOWN
Work with great white sharks in Cape Town, South Africa  

Come face to face with the Great White Shark! Learn about and enjoy one of the most exquisite and mysterious gifts of Mother Nature. You'll observe the Great White Shark in its natural environment, either from a boat or an underwater cage. You'll also see other wildlife species, including Cape Gannets, Bryde Whales, Cape Fur Seals, Dolphins and Jackass Penguins.

Definitely one for your "Top 10 things to do in your lifetime" list! You'll get lots of training and much of the work is out at sea.  You'll learn a lot.

LION AND BIG CAT SANCTUARY CONSERVATION, NEAR BETHLEHEM
 

Volunteer with the king of the beasts and other big cats in South Africa's largest Lion Sanctuary. The sanctuary is home to other big cats and a rich variety of game species, including Zebra, Wildebeest, Impala, Springbok and many more. You'll contribute to valuable rescue and rehabilitation work

VERVET MONKEY CARE, REHABILITATION & RELEASE
 

This is a wonderful project that encompasses all aspects of Vervet Monkey Rehabilitation and Conservation ... not to be missed! Help to care for, rehabilitate and release injured and abandoned Vervet Monkeys back into the wild to live a free and natural life. You'll work with a Non-Profit Organisation that specialises in the care, rehabilitation & return to the wild of Vervet Monkeys that have been injured, orphaned or displaced, usually as a result of actions on the part of people.

WILDLIFE VETERINARY MEDICINE INTERNSHIP ON A GAME RESERVE IN LIMPOPO PROVINCE
Capturing a Sable on the Wildlife Conservation Project in South Africa  

This is a rare and unique opportunity to gain hands-on veterinary experience with wild animals on a Game Reserve in northern South Africa! This is a fantastic placement with a wide range of situations that you'll deal with, across a few Game Reserves.

MULTI-MARINE PROJECT WITH DOLPHINS, WHALES, SHARKS, NEAR CAPE TOWN
  This placement is exciting! Work with Sharks, Whales, Penguins, Tourism, Research and Community Development, and you’ll also regularly see Dolphins and lots of Seals. You’ll be taught by skilled field teams. You'll go out to sea frequently and get involved with observing behaviour and interactions of marine species around the boat ... White beaches, blue ocean and two hours from the world's third favourite city - Cape Town.

CHEETAH AND PREDATOR CONSERVATION IN A GAME RESERVE
 

Help conserve Cheetahs and other predators in their natural environment. This project is located in Northern South Africa. You'll live on a Game Reserve in a delightful bush camp where you get up close and personal with the animals. You'll be involved with tracking, monitoring and researching the amazing Cheetah (did you know they run at 70 mph?). You'll also be involved in night safaris, Reserve management and conservation efforts of a number of other, different species.

CARE FOR ANIMALS IN A WILDLIFE SANCTUARY
 

Hands-on work with injured or abandoned animals of all types. This is a very popular project. You'll assist in a very caring Sanctuary set in a small private game reserve in the Eastern Cape. You'll help in hand-rearing, feeding and generally looking after many different animal species, including over 250 different species of birds. The sanctuary receives many abandoned, abused, injured or orphaned animals. This is a very hands-on experience and one that leaves you immensely satisfied.

ZULULAND WILDLIFE AND GAME RESERVE CONSERVATION EXPEDITION

 

Work on four very different Game Reserves, each with their own unique beauty and attraction. You'll gain a wealth of conservation knowledge and experience working under qualified conservation experts and on location out in the bush. You'll get involved with some of the most exciting, endangered and priority species conservation work in the heart of Africa.

This project is extremely popular and gets booked up very quickly, so we strongly advise that you book early!

MARINE RESEARCH INTERNSHIP,  NEAR CAPE TOWN
The shark reserch vessel on the Multi-marine Voluntary Project in South Africa   This is an excellent marine internship programme for interns working in the unique marine environment at the tip of Africa - home to one of the densest populations of Great White Sharks in the world. It is the breeding area of the endangered Southern Right Whale and home of one of the threatened colonies of the African Penguin, as well as resident populations of Dolphins, Seals and thousands of Seabirds. Located near Cape Town.
