CLASSIC INCA TRAIL TO MACHU PICCHU - 4 DAYS

The Inca Trail to Machu Picchu is rated among the best trekking trips in the world because of the exquisite beauty of its natural surroundings. These include different ecological areas from high deserts to Andean tropical rain‐forest. Following this ancient Inca Trail, you will be walking past mysterious archaeological sites, half covered by the jungle overgrowth that looks like you are discovering them for the first time, and finally arriving to the lost city of the Incas: Machu Picchu. The journey is conducted by experienced guides that will make your trip pleasant and safe. The service includes native "quechua" carriers for your luggage and delicious meals during the trip.

ITINERARY

DAY 1 CUSCO - Km. 82 – HUAYLLABAMBA
Transfer from the hotel to Km. 82, where you will meet our porters and equipment. You will start the trek escorted by the porters, going through semi‐arid terrain along the Urubamba River with magnificent views of snow‐capped mountains, until you arrive to Llactapata. Here you will leave the Urubamba valley and set off up the Kusichaca river to our first camp site in Huayllabamba (around 3000 m.a.s.l – 9842 f.a.s.l.). Lunch and dinner included.
KM 82 – Llactapata: 5 KM / 3 hours approximately.
Km 82 to Huayllabamba: 11 km / 6 hours approximately.

DAY 2 HUAYLLABAMBA - PACAYMAYO
After a healthy breakfast you will begin to walk to the Warmihuañusca pass (4200 mts ‐ 13860 ft. approximately). After a short time, you will reach the top of the pass. From this place, it is possible to see the other side of the way leading to Runkurakay ruins. At the end of a gorge, you will stop at a place called Pacaymayo (3600 mts. – 11181 ft.), the second camp. Full meals included. Huayllabamba‐Pacaymayo: 7km / 7 hours approximately.

DAY 3 PACAYMAYO – WIÑAYWAYNA
You'll depart from Pacaymayo and a while later a zigzagging but short ascent will take us to the Runkurakay circular ruins. There is no sign of human life, only great forests and abrupt hills. After a good rest, you will start your decent and clearly notice that the Inca Trail is well preserved from this point. After a short while you will get to the steps which go up to Sayacmarca ruins (3620 mts – 11946 ft approximately).

From Sayacmarca the stone road begins to go into the jungle, continuing our trek towards Phuyupatamarca ruins. The trail crosses the "Lago Seco" and for brief moments you’ll go up and down. You’ll then cross "The Tunnel", a natural cavity produced by a landslide but adapted by the Incas. The Inca Trail well‐traced borders continuous on the hills full of moss and fern. After crossing a small pass, you will see some steep steps and under these the Ceremonial Center of Phuyupatamarca ruins. (3650 mts – 12045 ft approximately). Going down the trail you’ll be able to see the Urubamba valley and the river of the same name. The path goes down to Wiñay Wayna ruins(2650 mts. – 8745 ft approximately), the most important ruins after Machu Picchu and our last campsite. (B, L and D).

Pacaymayo – Phuyupatamarca: 7 km / 6 hours approximately.
Phuyupatamarca – Wiñaywayna: 4 Km / 3 hours approximately.

DAY 4 WIÑAYWAYNA - MACCHU PICCHU – CUSCO
You will leave our camp very early in the morning, heading towards the Inti Punku, Gate of the Sun (2740
mts‐9042 ft approximately), the last pass. From this site, Machu Picchu (2450 mts ‐8085 ft approximately) looks unreal and beautiful. You’ll have the rest of the day to visit the entire citadel. The train goes back to Cusco from the Aguas Calientes station. Arrival and transfer to the hotel. Breakfast lunch included (5 Hours hiking)

OPTIONAL:
Stay an extra day at the Aguas Calientes (hot Springs) to get a second exquisite view of Machupicchu. (This is not included and costs extra)

ITINERARY

Day 1 CUSCO - 104 KILOMETER - WINAYWAYNA - MACHUPICCHU
Transfer from Cusco to the train station. Train up to the 104km. At this point you’ll start trekking for approximately 3 hours, up to the well‐preserved remains of Wiñay Wayna (2900 m.a.s.l). On the way, you will see beautiful waterfalls. After lunch, you will have the rest of the day free to explore the ruins with its houses, terraces, towers and local museum, as well as visiting the Inti Punku, the Inca Gate of the Sun, where you will get our first sight of Machu Picchu. You will finally cross the ridge that leads to our destination, and the full sight of the greatest archaeological discovery of modern times is reveled. After a guided tour of Machu Picchu, you will be brought to the hotel. Box lunch included.

Day 2 MACHU PICCHU
You will start our visit to the Sanctuary early in the morning for a full day of exploring (guided tour). In the afternoon, the train will go back to Cusco departing from the Aguas Calientes station. Arrival at the Cusco train station and transfer to the hotel. Lunch included. End of Our Services.

ITINERARY
06:00 Leave Cusco for the station in Poroy, where you will board the train which will take you to the town of Aguas Calientes. At about 10.50 you will arrive in the station and immediately take a bus up towards the lost city. Here you will have two hours of guided excursion around the site. After this there will be time to take photos and explore the site independently. You will then make our way back down to Aguas Calientes where the Poroy train departs at 17.00. At 20.30 you will arrive back in Poroy and transfer directly to your hotel.
Lunch is not included.

ITINERARY
05:30 Leave Cusco for the station in Poroy, where you will board the train which will take us to the town of Aguas Calientes. At about 10.00 you will arrive in the station and immediately take a bus up towards the lost city. Here you will have two hours of guided excursion around the site. After this there will be time to take photos and explore the site independently. You will then return to Aguas Calientes at 15.25 when the panoramic train returns to Poroy. 19.00 you will arrive in Poroy and will be transferred directly to your hotel.
Lunch is not included.

ITINERARY
We will meet you at your hotel in the early morning and take you to the train station where you will board train to the town of Aguas Calientes. Upon arrival you will immediately take a bus up towards the lost city. Here you will have two hours of guided excursion around the site. After this there will be time to take photos and explore the site independently. We will then return to Aguas Calientes where you will spend the night. On the second day you will return to Machu Picchu, we recommend on the first bus, to see the whole site at sunrise (optional). You will return to Aguas Calientes to board a train back where you will be met by private transport to take us back to your hotel in the city of Cusco. Lunches, hotel in Aguas Calientes, and second day entry to Machu Picchu not included.
